Update!

Update to the Update:

Francisco Liriano has been named to replace Jose Contreras on the AL's All-Star roster. Contreras pitched Sunday and wouldn't be available for Tuesday's game. Curt Schilling was first in line, but also pitched on Sunday. And so, Liriano finally gets his due.

Liriano pitched 7 innings of shutout ball today, lowering his ERA to 1.83 and improving his record to 10-1. The seven innings qualify him for the league leaderboard in starting pitching categories and he has immediately assumed the lead in the following categories:

Earned Run Average: 1.83 (Santana 2nd at 2.76)
Walks and Hits per Inning Pitched: 0.97 (Santana 2nd at .99)
Strikeouts per Nine Innings: 10.4 (Kazmir 2nd at 9.77)
Opponent OBP: .257 (Santana 2nd at .260)
Opponent Slugging Percentage: .287 (Lackey 2nd at .305)
Opponent OPS: .544 (Lackey 2nd at .571)
Quality Start Percentage: 80% (Mussina 2nd at 78%)

He assumes second position in Batting Average Against at .201 (Lackey 1st at .195) and second to Jose Contreras in win percentage. He is fourth in the AL in strikeout-to-walk ratio at 4.43.

Punch A.J. indeed.
